The Winnipeg Filipino Wedding industry has boomed over the last decade. With a huge growing community I’ve photographed many Filipino Weddings over the years as a wedding photographer in Winnipeg.
Just last year I also had the great pleasure of visiting the Philippines and spending three weeks there. What a beautiful country full of friendly and amazing people. With thousands of Islands to explore and unlimited amounts of adventures my girlfriend and I had an incredible time there.
As soon as I got back I photographed an incredible Filipino Wedding as well at the Human Rights Museum. You can check it out here.
Some of the fun things you can expect at a Filipino Wedding is the prosperity dance where guests pin money to the bride and groom. Another fun tradition I’ve seen is right after the garter toss. I’m not sure if it’s just a Winnipeg or Canadian thing but it’s hilarious.
The men gather around and get ready to catch the garter from the groom. Once the garter is launched the men rush the groom and tear his pants off leaving him in his underwear. It’s absolutely hilarious and I still have no idea why they do it. Filipino’s also love to sing and you’ll always find some in the family or guests that will preform at their wedding.
Here’s a Winnipeg Filipino wedding highlight video of Tracy + R.A. They had their wedding in a church and reception at Ashgrove Acres just outside of Winnipeg.
