Winnipeg Muslim wedding

Hi! I specialise in Muslim weddings or Islamic weddings in Winnipeg. Contact me  if you’re interested in a custom quote for your wedding.

When I photograph a Muslim wedding it’s not much different than an Indian wedding. They both share a lot of the similarities except for the wedding ceremony and some pre-wedding traditions in my opinion.

An Islamic wedding ceremony is called a Nikah ceremony. I’ve seen some cultural differences when it comes to traditions for this ceremony. However the similarities I’ve always photographed are the prayer and both families agreeing to the marriage.

I’ve seen a few varieties of Winnipeg Muslim weddings but what they all have in common are gorgeous outfits, lots of dancing, singing and amazing food.

I’ve put together a list of Winnipeg Islamic weddings below so feel free to scroll down at any time.

The reception part of a Muslim wedding is called the Walima. They have dinner together with speeches and usually dance performances. This is usually the time and place where the grooms shoes are stolen and bought back for money.

I usually get some party shots here after all the speeches and games are done. The guests will dance a little with the bride and groom before they send them off. I sometimes create a row of people to send off the couple if they have lights or sparklers.

Winnipeg Muslim weddings venues

One of the most popular Winnipeg Islamic wedding venues I’ve photographed in is the Manitoba Islamic Association. This Mosque is the biggest in Winnipeg and has hundreds of visitors each week. I’ve been very lucky to photograph here a few times. The above picture is my photograph of a Muslim wedding couple just outside that same Mosque.
