How To Write A Great Wedding Speech
Okay, I know you’re dreading this but I got some great tips on how to write a wedding speech for you. As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen my share of great speeches and bad ones, so I’m here to help.
1: First off, prepare by writing it weeks in advance.
2: Secondly, rehearse it often until the day comes for you to get up there. For example, sit your partner or friends down and rehearse it in front of them. This practice will help you so much when it’s time to do it for real.
3: My third tip on writing a wedding speech would be to introduce yourself first. Then tell everyone what your relationship is with the bride or groom. Immediately after that share a quick joke that relates to the party or the married couple. Get people comfortable, laughing, and engaged early. The result should make you feel more comfortable as well if it’s a decent joke.
4: Keeping your wedding speech between 2-5 minutes is my fourth tip and a very important one. This is because the attention span of an audience is very short and your great speech will start to drag and lose them. Unless you’re the greatest storyteller and presenter on earth, please keep it reasonably short.
5: My fifth tip for you is to be genuine and say something really meaningful and nice about the bride/groom. For instance, share a great story that showed some great qualities in the bride and groom or maybe even a funny story. Just remember tip number four and don’t let it drag.
