West Indian Wedding
Patrick + Monica
This West Indian wedding was celebrated over the course of a week before the ceremony at Dr Raj Pandey Hindu Temple because of the Hindu traditions that are preformed just like other Indian weddings. Such as the henna ceremony and turmeric ceremony. With that said, it also means their was more partying each day and as we all know Indians know how to party. Now mix in the Caribbean side to things and now you have an epic wedding.
The wedding ceremony started off with Patrick dancing on top of his horse in the custom Indian tradition known as the Baarat. It’s how the groom arrives to the ceremony by horse surrounded by family and friends dancing to the beat of the Indian dohl drum. But like a good team it was the beat of the Caribbean drums at the end of the night that helped keep the party going and boy did it ever.
Winnipeg is a small city but it’s incredible how small a world it really is. For example, Monica grew up a block away from me and some how we never met until last year. It’s amazing how our lives can entwine with each other in such unique ways.
These two and their wedding party’s were such a blast to be around. It felt like I was hanging out with my friends that I grew up with. Really fortunate to have covered this wedding and to have met these awesome people. Enjoy the highlights from this West Indian wedding!
