Hiring your wedding photographer isn’t easy and there are a lot of important questions you need to ask. So I’ve put together a shortlist of the ones I get frequently asked on a regular basis. This list is always growing so if you have a question that’s not on here please feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to assist!
– How much do you charge?
In Canada prices start at $4500+tax for a 10 hour wedding day. Every wedding is unique and I provide a quote for each one depending on each clients specific needs. We just need to hop on the phone for a quick 5-10 min call. Usually after the phone call some clients figure out things they needed or didn’t need which can be super helpful as well.
In Europe prices are starting at 2000 Euro’s for full day weddings and for destination weddings within Europe it’s 2300 Euros which includes travel.
Digital files are always included but you will have the option to get premium artwork handmade from Italy.
– What is your style?
I’ve heard it being called “creative documentary”. I will be hands-off for the majority of the day focusing on the story and capturing genuine moments while they’re happening. During portraits, I will give a lot of direction while we try to create amazing works of art by experimenting and using different techniques. I’m always aiming for natural candid reactions between my couples and nothing to posey. The photos won’t have crazy effects or filters on them and will look great decades from now.
– When should I book my photographer?
Photographers are one of the 1st to get booked along with venues and most are booked a year in advance so book as soon as possible.
– My Fiance doesn’t like taking pictures.
Don’t worry, I’ve photographed many people who don’t like their picture taken. Heck I’m kind of one of them. A lot of the people in the pictures you see on my website were nervous to begin with which is completely normal. I always keep it light and fun and in no time you’ll see that I’m very easy to work with. I never force anyone to do anything and I like couples to act naturally. Usually by the end of it all we’re all just goofing around together.
– What if it rains on my wedding day?
We always plan a suitable indoor backup location for portraits. Most outdoor venues have an indoor location as a backup for ceremonies as well and can move things indoors pretty quickly.
I’m very comfortable shooting in any indoor location and create beautiful images almost anywhere. I’m adventurous as well so if you guys want to get a little wet with umbrellas I don’t mind doing that either.
– What if you get sick or can’t attend?
Well knock on wood but I’ve never missed one yet. I always share my wedding schedule with another photographer and have many photographer friends in the industry that are always willing to help out in an emergency. I have a back up for everything!
– Do you use professional equipment?
Yes, I personally have 4 professional cameras at your wedding and backups for everything. Even your photos are backed up on 2 memory cards when I photograph ensuring that nothing goes wrong. Electronics and camera do fail and will. I’ve had a very expensive and brand new camera fail on a wedding day but I’m always prepared with backups so didn’t miss a beat in capturing the couples amazing day!
– We don’t live near you but would love to talk with you about our day?
Don’t worry! Couples book wedding photographers all over the world without meeting them in person all the time. It’s the beauty of living in the day in age of the internet. We can meet and discuss everything online through Skype and booking can easily be done online.
– Should I give you a shot list?
One of the things we make sure we do is take detail shots of everything. We are very thorough with the must take shots so there is no need to provide that to us. The only list we’ll need from you is the family groupings for the family formal photos.
– When will I see my photos?
My turn around time is always less than 8 weeks and a slideshow of your highlights are sent you first for viewing together. Your online gallery is sent shortly after with all the images. Sneak-peek photos are posted sooner, typically within a few days after the wedding 🙂
– How do we arrange your travel?
I book my own travel, hotel, and transportation. You don’t need to worry about any of that.
– Will you travel to photograph our engagement session?
Yes, I would be very happy to meet you in your town or destination of choice. Just get in touch for the travel information and booking details.
– Do you have an assistant?
A second photographer is recommended. They can cover an extra angle during the ceremony and get more shots for you when I’m busy working with you. It will be someone I trust to do the job.
– We need some help with booking indoor photo locations and planning our day can you help?
Yes! I will give you all the information you need to help you plan your day better including photo venue information in Winnipeg. Good planning is very important for getting enough time to get all the photos you need.
