Wedding Photographer In Asia
It’s that time of year after weddings that I finally get to relax and enjoy my time. As we know wedding photography isn’t always glamours. Working all the weekends in the summer which we know living in Winnipeg is one of the most important and anticipated times of the years after a long winter.
A big reason why I went on this trip was for a photography retreat. Where a bunch of amazing photographers from around the world came together and discussed techniques, ideas and lots of inspiration.
It was truly inspiring and an amazing time. Thirty world-class photographers all in one beautiful place called Pandawa Cliff Estates. We connected, laughed, cried and partied our asses off.
It was the beginning of my journey which was still to last 6 more weeks after. It included the Gili Islands, Ubud and then the Philippines in locations such as Siargao Island and Palawan, El Nido and Coron.
I do wish I took more photos but I don’t regret putting my camera down and enjoying myself.
My friend Dane whom I met on a journey to Iceland a couple of years ago and went on a trip to Thailand with me joined me in the Philippines for a week until my girlfriend Angie met us a week later.
We did a ton of Island hopping. The Philippines has around 7000 Islands. I know, that’s insane. If you want beaches on beaches this is the place. We took a 3 day Island hopping tour from El Nido to Coron with Tao Experience which was bragged about by everyone we met on the way to El Nido. People usually do 5 days but it was booked months in advance so settled for 3 days. It was also quite pricey $500 US but a once in a lifetime experience.
They take you to small remote islands on the way to Coron and camp for the night on them at the end of the day. I did some of the most breathtaking snorkeling on this journey. Seeing sea turtles, stingrays, barracuda, starfish and so much more.
I Â would recommend wearing reef safe sunscreen if you decide to do these trips and to respect the coral by not touching it. They are under extreme threat from us and the environment.

I truly miss this holiday as I think we all do when we travel. It’s nice to go home to take a break and see family and friends but I cannot wait until my next adventure.
If you would like to see some photos from Belgium please take a look at this post. A day in Antwerpen
